What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is an alternative medicine practice that typically involves the intake of highly diluted substances.

These substances, if administered to a healthy person, are said to manifest the same symptoms that a sickly patient is feeling. The theory behind this practice is that “like cures like” and, therefore, any illness can be remedied by a substance that would produce similar symptoms in a healthy individual.

Homeopathic remedies can be made from natural plants, minerals, or animal products, such as red onion, stinging nettle, and other herbal blends.  They can be made into sugar pellets, ointments, creams, or tablets. Homeopathy also practices the “law of minimum dose” where the lower the dose, the greater its effectiveness; hence why substances are highly diluted.
